Av an' An awoke me very early to ask if they could go to the corner shop as they wanted to make strawberry shortcake. Having spent £10 0n ingredients, as Tesco Express only seems to stock "the best" we now have a far more innovative dessert chilling in the fridge.
In honour of the Olympic flame reaching the summit of Everest, we have Strawberry Pinnacle Pudding, a craggy concoction that, although it doesn't look like the photo in the book, has an elegance about it. OK, so the cake fell to pieces when they tried to lever it from the tin, but we like to turn everything into a gift in this house!
