I was living for my morning bath.
Last night I dreamed of my morning bath.
Following the hour and a half school run, I made a couple of calls to people who are "out of the office," like they were when I phoned them on Thursday, went up to run the bath and discovered a distinct lack of hot water. Good.
Last Thursday, my nice relaxing bath resulted in a flooded kitchen, but all is now fixed, thank goodness. The weekends mean jumping in and out of the bath because everyone is home....later will be fine, I'm sure.
I have to go out again in a while, as Ali forgot some vital papers and has an exam this morning. I also need to go to the town hall to drop off some papers about housing matters. AND I should eat something!
I keep being reminded of the little story of the college lecturer who demonstrates how to fit everything into life, using large stones to symbolise priorities like home and family- things that often go neglected- smaller ones to stand for necessary but less fulfilling, down to sand for the dull stuff we often mistakenly prioritise, and pouring it all into a jar. We often put the sand in first, leaving the rocks until last, only to discover they won't fit any more. If the big stuff goes in first, the smaller things will always fit in somewhere.
One of the things we are apt to neglect is our own deep fulfilment, our spirits, our loves; I know that I need to meditate every day for my own well-being, yet this is often brushed aside in the general life-hubbub. However, if I make it one of the first things I do each day, the day IS better.
My personal interpretation of the bible quote regarding giving to God what is God's, and to Caesar what is Caesars, is to nurture the spirit FIRST and then attend to matters of the Earth.
So, I shall make a list for the rest of the day, be thankful for the sunshine, and get on with what needs to be done.

There is nothing like a nice, hot bath. Hope you managed to get a relaxing bath later that day.
