Yesterday afternoon one of the teens had put on the DVD of Confetti while the little ones were out playing. No-one really noticed they had come back until my 9 year old, confronted with the on-screen vision of naturists preparing for their wedding, a Midsummer Night's Dream style frolic, asked why there was a man wearing a funny dress? Oblivious to the non-gratuitous nudity the bizarre thing, to her, was the man in the gossamer robe! We all fell about- and I would like to point out that we are, in the main, a fully clothed household, now that we have the joys of teenage hormones to live with.
Retro fashion has Ali dressing much as I did when I was her age, with brightly coloured legs and pixie-boots, though her rather short shorts do nothing to improve her cough. When her similarity to a panto character was mentioned, her brother chipped in with, "Yeah, She'll be dressed as half-a-horse tomorrow!"
It is all, thankfully, in good spirited humour, so he was not offended by her "Alright Jesus!" comment, referring to his tufty facial hair and shoulder length locks.
The joys of our home are a pleasure indeed!
The laptop, which Ali and I share, and which seemed like a luxury, is worth its weight in gold for us, and for Rosie's hair. I finally have an effective bribe to keep her still during the obligatory nit-check! At last, she will sit still, watching "Charlie and Lola" on the CBBC web-site, and have her hair combed....I see light at the end of that tunnel, at last! A few weeks ago, I was still having to ask somebody to hold her still while I combed and, as ALL parents know, all the while one child is refusing, they might as well all refuse.
So, though the media seem to be downgrading today to "blue monday," I would like to say that here on the Sunshine Coast, we continue to look on the bright side!
HAPPINESS REINS!
LOVE PREVAILS!
...and all....that....Jazz!
