THANK HEAVEN!

Yesterday was my Granpa's funeral; one year short of his 60th wedding anniversary, we all assembled to bid him farewell. An old friend had flown in from Germany, his step-niece came up from Hampshire to preside.
Faces I remembered from childhood were there, maybe faded and lined, but all united in love for a man who had impacted on many lives in a profound and positive way. My cousin and I, who had not met for several years, read at the service attended by 4 generations. It would have been wonderful had we all come together while Grandpa was still here in body, but I'm certain he was, and is, with us all in spirit.

I count myself fortunate to have seen him just over 12 hours before he passed; in fact, my eldest daughter was with me at the time so, in a sense, representatives of the 4 generations were together....
He was, and is, very much loved. Even my least sociable children wanted to come to the funeral, wanted to hug my Grandmother, and allowed themselves to cry in public.

Nanny has gone straight off today with my Aunt to Somerset for a while. I send her my love while she is away, and will visit her when she gets back.

From all of this, I urge you all, let your loved ones know that they are loved, for love and life are the greatesr gifts of all.
