The magic of television!

by puredawn @ 10 Jan. 2007 - 09:49:07

Control of the media is, as we know, a very powerful tool. My lovely children also resort to various means to establish dominance over the household, which leads to regular squabbles over the computer and the television. As a way of establishing some harmony I decided that we needed another TV set and went out during the school holidays to buy a portable.

Everywhere I looked had sold out of the basic model that was within my budget so I returned home with a vacuum cleaner instead, and trusted that there must be some reason why.

Yesterday, all became clear.

Yesterday was a small girl's birthday, and her Daddy arrived with a little TV, although I had not mentioned my quest, and he had not spoken to the girls recently. Not just any old TV, either. It's furry, and shaped like a lion!

Abundance is something that works on many levels. Some things can be hard to trust to the universe, I know, but these moments of physical manifestation are minor "miracles" that try to prove that the greater ones can be achieved....

Peace and happiness, here we come!

Isn't that great. I have posted later on today about a tv / dvd I bought in ASDA for just £35. But a free, furry one is even better. My ex DIL (and mother of my grandson) is just moving in with her boyfriend and they have discovered they have 9! tv's between them. What a lovely thng to happen for you.

I love that manipulation of time : " I have blogged, later on today!"

I must be a time lord. I tend to think of posts and write them early in the morning and schedule them to even out my posts. I am trying very hard to reduce my number of posts at the moment as I tend to post far too much.

Einstein said that : there are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as if everything is... ;)

I'm so pleased that what you needed came to your family - and lets face it, a TV can't clean the floor! lol I really do feel that there is always a reason why our angels tell us not to worry about something - one of yours must have told you it was being taken care of.

Managing on a limited budget is always the single mother's forte and managing it with humour as well as love is a great gift which you seem to have in abundance! But sometimes we can do with a little help - and I found it when I needed it quite by accident, clicking on a link on an email. If you register with Freecycle.co.uk., you can get things that you wouldn't otherwise be able to afford.

It's a recyling scheme that helps to reduce landfill sites by the members offering all sorts of things from clothes to TV's to toys that their own kids have ougrown or got fed up with - even computers! Some people use it as a sort of wish-list which seems to me to be greedy, but others are offering perfectly good items for free and the price is right as far as I'm concerned. You can also get rid of outgrown clothes from your kids that are too good to throw away and household things you don't use. (And boy, did I have a lot of things that hadn't seen the light of day for years) Result - several very happy Freecyclers and more space in my home! And I also picked up an immaculate and almost new leather chesterfield that was too big for someone else's home, that I couldn't have afforded to buy in ordinary circumstances. And I didn't feel that I was accepting charity because it's not - more a case of helping to reduce waste on our struggling resources

I hope you don't mind me sending you this link though? I just wish it had been around when my kids were asking for stuff that the purse-strings wouldn't stretch to!

Love and blessings to you and your family xxx
