Ali and I went into town today because she'd heard there was a sale in Top Shop. Of course, she didn't mention until we were there that she wanted me to pay for what she bought and, as they didn't have anything she wanted in the sale, she thought she'd have a full-price bra instead.
I don't think I've ever bought myself an item of underwear that dear, so I suggested a couple of other shops, to which she stomped at full speed. I explained, when I caught up with her, that I had come out to have a nice time, we only had an hour, and if she was planning to stay grumpy she had better catch a bus to the Stagecoach.
"FINE!"
She charged off, and I wandered into Past Times. There's an Ankh pendant I like the look of, and they have 20% off jewellery.
My phone rang.
It was Ali. She didn't have any bus fare. I couldn't help being amused and, fortunately, neither could she, so we had a cup of coffee, a hug and a cookie before I drove her to Stagecoach. I also gave her £10 to put towards her undies; if she wants to spend more that's up to her.
While we want the best for our children, I have started to feel the need to draw some lines; their love for labels could easily turn my wardrobe into cheap and cheerless. Charity shop chic can be fun, but when your kids are always better turned out than you are I don't take that as a good sign. So, after I have a posh bra, I may well buy Ali a posh bra but, as she spent the whole day in a towel the other day because there was nothing she liked in her wardrobe, I don't see it happening just yet!

Arent they the limit....! Bless. Yes the drawing of lines....something that has to be done and often I havent predicted the next line that needs drawing if you see what I mean so get caught on the hop....and then its difficult to backtrack. You did well and sounds like she has a sense of humour too! and that you did have a nice time together in the end.
